Leadership UA's Adult Program
The LUA Adult Class is a bimonthly series
of classes designed to enhance leadership and teambuilding skills and to educate members about the history and the inner workings
of Upper Arlington.
While most of our adult graduates do not run for public
office, they do have an advantage knowing how the system works, whom to call when it doesn't, and the confidence to work
with the system.
- You will be challenged to define your leadership strengths
& problem solving skills.
- You will benefit by developing valuable
community networks.
- Leadership UA is truly a unique and fun personal growth
experience.
- Leadership UA addresses community issues- past, present, and future
through small group activities, debates, and in-depth studies.
Who
is eligible?
If you live or work in Upper Arlington, you are eligible for
the program.
When do classes begin?
Classes
start in September and run through mid April.
What are the class requirements?
- Attendance is important. You will find that once your class bonds at the retreat, they
will miss you if you are absent. Absences can upset the quality of the discussions for your classmates and there is not
an opportunity (until next year) to make up missed classes.
- Arrive on
time. A late arrival can be disruptive and upset the flow of the class for your fellow members.
- You are encouraged to attend one City Council and one Board of Education meeting, preferably prior to the class
sessions on each.
- You will participate in a class project that will require
some out of class time to complete.
- You will be assigned a local human
services organization to research.
What does the retreat cover?

Do I have
to attend the retreat?
Attendance is important. This opportunity to spend
quality time getting to know your classmates is essential to a fulfilling Leadership UA experience.
How
must does it cost?
The complete cost of the program is $700, which includes
everything: the overnight retreat, course materials, speakers, meals and snacks for each class.
